Academic support for local schools
Our school actively supports local schools academically by offering comprehensive assistance with GCSE preparation and organising subject-specific workshops. The workshops cover a wide range of topics with the aim of not only enhancing academic understanding but also inspiring a love for learning, ensuring students are well-prepared and confident in their educational journeys.
Two workshops have been held to support teachers of physics and technician in delivering the practical element of the GCSE syllabus.
We also ran a training based on Google Classroom for a local primary school (Nash Mills CofE).
In addition, we hosted a poetry workshop with a focus on gifted and talented students to two local secondary schools.
In an event we entitled 'Art meets science', pupils from Year 6 worked in teams in two activities. The science activity involved a bug hunt, followed by a classification activity. The art focussed on detailed observational drawings that were then changed into prints. The children's work was then turned into displays that both schools shared. The day ended with a shared lunch on the front lawn.
Year 4 at Nash Mills enjoyed a morning of practical science activities to mark British Science Week
