Abbeydale Care Home partnership

A group of Bury Grammar School pupils visit a local care home weekly where they talk, read and play games with residents.

Aims

The aims of the partnership are to enrich the lives of local care home residents with weekly visits from pupils of Bury Grammar School.

Pupils volunteer to visit the care home and plan and undertake a variety of activities with them including singing, games and reading.

Background

The partnership has been going for 12 months and it came about with a member of the BGS staff contacting the care home to enquire whether volunteering placements were available for BGS students.

Pupil Involvement

Pupils are in Y11 and above.

Frequency

This is a weekly activity that lasts two hours and hopefully will be a long-term and long-lasting partnership.
