54th Anniversary Performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

7th June

In 1970 King’s Rochester was proud to host one of the first performances of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat with both Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd-Webber participating in the performance.

To celebrate the 54th Anniversary of this performance our Prep School today hosted combined with pupils from English Martyrs School, Strood and Oaklands School, Walderslade to give a performance of 14 songs from this world famous show, enabling over 100 pupils from 12 to 8 to take part.

In the morning the combined choir came together for some vocal exercises and practice singing together as such a large choir, and then in the afternoon, the work was performed in front of an audience of over 25 families.

Congratulations to all.

Aims

To encourage the singing and public performances of well known works

Background

This was a new adventure for King's as part of our programme of working with local School's to develop passion for music.

Resources

Besides the work from King's music staff and pupils King's ensured that a packed lunch and refreshments were available throughout the day.

King's also arranged for a coach to collect and return the pupils from Oasklands School, Walderslade

Impact

As the kids left on Friday night they were very buoyant and the image of them leaving the event singing some of the songs they had learnt was very positive.

Pupil Involvement

Pupils from 7 to 12 were involved

Frequency

We will continue to run these programmes, approximately one each year.
